BONE GROWTH, OR AUGMENTATION

When a tooth is removed and the normal load on the jaw is removed, gradual bone loss begins, resulting in a decrease in the width and height of the jaw.

When planning an implant, bone volume and quality are always assessed. If there is not enough bone, it is added through a bone augmentation procedure.

Special granules or the L-PRF method (Tartu Clinic) are used to grow bone.

As a rule, the procedure is performed together with implantation, but then ossification usually takes 6-9 months. If placing the implant during the same appointment is too risky, the bone is covered with a special protective membrane and implantation takes place only later. If there is insufficient bone height in the upper jaw, the sinus mucosa is lifted and bone is placed between the mucosa and the sinus floor (sinus lift).
