INVISALIGN ALIGNER TREATMENT – AN INVISIBLE ALTERNATIVE TO BRACES

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a nearly invisible alternative to braces. Invisalign treatment uses transparent plastic aligners made individually for the patient instead of braces to align teeth. The patient should wear the aligners for most of the day, preferably 21-22 hours. The aligners are only removed from the mouth for eating and washing. The aligners should be changed on average every 1-2 weeks.

Who are Invisalign aligners suitable for?

The only way to ensure the suitability of Invisalign aligners is by visiting a specialist who performs the Invisalign procedure. Invisalign is generally suitable from the age of 11-12 because by then most of the dentition has generally changed. During the initial consultation, the patient is diagnosed and the suitability of the treatment is confirmed.

How often do you need to have follow-up appointments with Invisalign?

Depending on the patient’s occlusion, a certain number of personalized aligners are made for the patient. During follow-up appointments, the patient receives additional aligners in parts so that the dentist can monitor the progress of the treatment. Appointments take place every one and a half to two months, depending on the nature of the treatment.

How long does the aligner treatment last and what is the final result?

After taking a digital impression, a treatment plan created with a special computer program, Align Technology, allows you to see how your teeth gradually begin to move. This allows you to see an initial prediction of what your teeth will look like after treatment.

Similar to braces, aligner treatment generally lasts about 18-20 months (the duration of treatment depends on the complexity of the treatment and the specific case).

The end result is a beautiful smile.

What is the cost of Invisalign aligners?

As with other orthodontic treatment methods, the final cost of treatment depends on the complexity of the problem and the specific treatment case. The exact price will be determined by the specialist during the appointment.

Frequently asked questions about Invisalign aligners

Most people experience tooth sensitivity for a few days after putting new aligners in their mouths. This is completely normal. This is a sign that the Invisalign aligners are working and moving the teeth into the correct position. The sensitivity will subside in a few days.

A gentle hissing sound may occur at the beginning of treatment. After some time, the tongue will get used to the aligners and any small possible change in speech should subside.

It takes time for teeth to move into place with the help of aligners. A little discomfort and feeling of inconvenience is normal. In case of serious discomfort or pain, you should contact your dentist.

In general, no. Unless your dentist has prescribed otherwise, unlike regular braces, you can eat anything you normally eat during aligner treatment. Since the braces must always be removed when eating and drinking, consuming different foods and drinks will not have any effect on the aligners.

To eat and drink, the aligners must be removed from the mouth beforehand (except for drinking water).

We recommend that you do not smoke, chew tobacco or use snus while wearing your aligners, as it may change the color of the aligners.

Depending on the treatment, it may be necessary at some stage to use attachments to change the direction of tooth movement or to apply greater force. Attachments are small composite attachments that are placed on the surface of the teeth. These, in turn, fit into the “bumps” on the aligners.

If the aligner is broken or missing, you should contact your dentist immediately. Your dentist will likely recommend that you immediately start wearing either your previous or next stage aligner. The dentist will then order the new aligner(s) needed, which should arrive within a week.

In this case, you should contact your dentist immediately. The attachment can be easily reattached.

Yes, we offer payment in installments. By signing a Maxilla installment agreement, you can pay for your dental treatment in installments. Find out more on the payment on the installments page.
